My name is Liz Chen, I am:

- The founder of LC Migration, a boutique immigration law firm in Australia

- The founder of Conscious Leaders Conferences and Retreats

- The former owner of a seven-figure recruitment company

- A mother to my beautiful son Leon who is almost 2 years old

- A world traveller whose been to 47 countries, 5 continents and travelled with my son to 13 countries before he turned one.

I run a successful 7 figure business, am a property investor and I love being a mother despite single parenting. I am surrounded by an amazing team of people who are invested in me just as much as I am in them.

I started Conscious Leaders Conferences and Retreats to bring together high achieving entrepreneurs and business leaders who knows there is more to wealth than just money. Who knows they can lead from their hearts and be in a community to expand, grow, network and run their business empires globally – while having fun!

I firmly believe it is possible to generate wealth from a heart aligned, heart driven, win win win methodology and be backed by an invested team.

However, things weren’t always this way…

My story started from the age of 5 when I flew on a plane to Australia by myself in 1993 to reunite with my parents. My father was studying a PHD on a scholarship and couldn’t afford plane tickets to get me, but his PHD professor was kind enough to gift him a one-way ticket for me. We grew up from a poor family as one days’ wage in Australia was equivalent to one months’ salary back in China.

My parents started a Chinese restaurant in 2000 to support my uncle and grandparents who had migrated to Australia. The business was to put food on the table and keep family employed. That was the first of my business training. I was working in the restaurant at the age of 12 and took on the responsibility of managing the restaurant at the age of 15 when my parents’ relationship broke down.

Unfortunately, my mother became a gambling addict and after SARS hit in 2004, we lost the business. My father left to do business in China and I found myself being a 2nd mother to my younger sister and brother due to my parents absence. I was left to manage the household with strangers living in the house to cover rent.

Those were some of the hardest years.
 
Focusing on what was in my control, I studied at the Australian National University at the age of 17 and secured a job in the Australian government at the age of 18. I was working 3 jobs to save for my own house – my day job in government, waitress job on weeknights and a bartending job on Saturday nights.
 
I bought my first property at the age of 20 and moved in with my boyfriend. My boyfriend proposed to me on my 21st birthday and we committed to a 5 year long distance relationship for him to focus on his dental career. I was an Executive Level earning six figures by 23 and purchased 2 more investment properties.

By 24, I was awarded an Australian Day Achievement Award in 2012 by the Department of Environment for exemplary professionalism and excellence in customer service through the provision of financial accounting support to the Departments Operational Support Units.

Despite the achievements, success and money…

My relationship was falling apart. We broke off the engagement when I was 24. My brother moved in with me as Child Care Protection found my mother’s home to be unsuitable for an 11-year-old. I continued to play the role of a responsible adult...

My father was still absent as he was busy in China working on being a “successful” businessman. He would stay at my place when he did visit every now and then but he was too proud to admit he had poor cashflow management - constantly borrowing money to repay debt, even asking me to repay his mortgage.  

By 26, I had become a Chartered Accountant and completed the Graduate Diploma of Australian Migration Law. I started the business “LC Migration” when I was 27 so I could work from home and vowed to operate it differently to how my parents managed theirs.

After another long-term relationship that failed, I was in a very dark place and suicidal. Safe to say I was having a “quarter life crisis”. I finally sought help from therapists, counsellors and started to rebuild my emotional world piece by piece. After becoming a practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming in June 2017, my world shifted. Clearing limiting beliefs and finding ways to handle trauma from my past was liberating and being able to heal myself was profound.

“The quality of your life is the quality of your relationships”

In September 2017, after attending Tony Robbins Unleash The Power Within event in Sydney, I invested in my personal development journey and was grateful to be part of Tony Robbin’s Platinum Partnership program where I attended 11 events in person around the world in my plat year. I loved being in a room of overachievers.

Tony Robbin’s Business Mastery program in 2017 set me on course to quit my ‘secure’ day job and focus on business full time.

I decided to live life on my terms and create the life that I deserved. I still have some amazing friendships to this day, some of whom are speakers at the next retreat.

“Business is a Spiritual Game”

I’ve become more spiritual as my businesses have grown, attending courses from O&O, Master Co and actively scheduling meditations, having “meetings” with myself and blocking out time to practice self-healing modalities such as Theta Healing. Prioritizing my inner health and wellness has improved my businesses significantly and allowed me to attract the right people and clients into each business.

The relationship with my parents and siblings have also improved. Choosing to be a single parent and having my own child has allowed the family dynamic to shift where I no longer need to parent my parents, or parent my siblings. I can now parent my own child and heal from intergenerational trauma while building
businesses because it provides the freedom and flexibility to travel and help people.
